Ellie Cachiaras and Isabella Cranford earn All-AAC applause
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (November 12, 2021) – Milligan University women’s soccer seniors Ellie Cachiaras and Isabella Cranford were named All-Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Second Team, the league office announced on Friday.
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (November 12, 2021) – Milligan University women's soccer seniors Ellie Cachiaras and Isabella Cranford were named All-Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Second Team, the league office announced Friday morning.
Cachiaras collects the honor after turning in one of the most productive offensive seasons across the AAC. She led the Buffs with 13 goals, five assists and 31 points, ranking fifth in the AAC in goals and points. In 14 AAC games, she scored 12 goals, had three assists and scored four game-winning goals. Her 65 shots in league play led the league.
Cachiaras turned in memorable home performances against Bryan, St. Andrews and Bluefield. Against Bryan, she scored twice, including a game-tying goal in the 81st minute to force overtime in what was eventually a 2-2 draw. She scored twice in the final five minutes of regulation to lead the Buffs past St. Andrews 2-1 and found the back of the net three times in a senior night victory over Bluefield.
Cachiaras also added game-winning goals in AAC wins at Kentucky Christian and CIU. She concludes her career with 26 goals and nine assists.
Cranford reeled in All-AAC Second Team honors for the second time in her career after securing the honor in her freshman season. A multi-year team captain and four-year starter, Cranford anchored the Buffs' defense as a center back. She helped Milligan record six shutouts on the season and was named the AAC Defensive Player of the Wek after helping the Buffs to 159:50 consecutive scoreless minutes in games against Bryan and Columbia (S.C.).
Milligan secured its fifth-straight winning season with a 9-6-1 record. The Buffs earned the number-six seed in the AAC Tournament and reached the quarterfinal round.
