DAYTON, Tenn. (Sept. 16, 2020) – Isabella Cranford, Ashlen Burch and Hannah Chatterton provided the scoring in the Milligan University women's soccer team's season opener at Bryan College, a 3-0 victory for the Buffs Wednesday night on the road.
The win was a dominant one for the Buffs, who owned the lead the rest of the way after Cranford converted a corner kick in just the 17th minute. Burch earned the assist, then followed two and a half minutes later with a goal that made it 2-0. Milligan outshot Bryan 26-4, including 16-2 on shots on target.
"I'm really happy with this start to the season," Head Coach Lisa Buckley said after the win. "We executed our game plan well. Alex Thomas and Bella Cranford were rocks for us defensively, and Ashlen Burch did a great job of linking up with our forwards."
The goals were the fifth and 13th of Cranford's and Burch's careers, respectively. Chatterton wrapped up the scoring in the 86th minute with a goal from inside the penalty area, the first goal of her career.
Up next, Milligan holds its home opener on Anglin Field when the Buffs face Point University Saturday at 3 p.m.
