Postseason accolades continue to roll in for Milligan women’s soccer
Well after soccer season, the Milligan College women’s soccer team is still collecting honors for their efforts during the 2019 fall season. Bekah Cundiff has been named to the 2019 United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region Team for the South and head coach Lisa Buckley has been honored with the Silver Award for the 2019 College Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award.
MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Jan. 9, 2020) – Well after soccer season, the Milligan College women's soccer team is still collecting honors for their efforts during the 2019 fall season. Bekah Cundiff has been named to the 2019 United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region Team for the South and head coach Lisa Buckley has been honored with the Silver Award for the 2019 College Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award.
This is Cundiff's second year in a row being named to the Scholar All-Region team. Cundiff is currently a senior nursing major with a grade-point average of 3.54, from Whitehouse, Ohio.
Cundiff had a very successful senior year as she was named Appalachian Athletic Conference All-Conference first team and received the Golden Boot award for scoring the most goals during AAC play. She scored 18 goals this season, with 17 being in conference play to lead the league in conference goals scored. She ranked second in points per game with 43 and had seven assists. Cundiff was fourth in shots per game with 57 and was tied for third with shots on goal with 35. She led the league with game winning goals, recording seven on the year.
The Ethics and Sportsmanship Award is awarded to coaches at four different levels. The highest level (platinum) is for a team who goes without any member receiving a yellow card or red card. For silver, Coach Buckley and the Buffs only had 11-30% of their members this year receive a yellow or red card.
The women's soccer team finished the 2019 season 11-5-1 overall and 10-2-1 in AAC play.
