COLUMBIA, S.C. (Oct. 2, 2019) – After an early goal from Columbia College, the Milligan College women's soccer team came back to defeat the Koalas 3-2 in an Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup in Columbia Wednesday night.
The Koalas scored in the first seven minutes, but the Buffs did not falter as freshman Audra Morgan scored her first conference goal of the season to tie the score back up 1-1. Then only eight minutes later Morgan found the back of the net again with an assist by sophomore Ashlen Burch to give the Buffs a 2-1 lead going into the second half. Milligan dominated the first half of the game, outshooting Columbia 12-1.
The Buffs kept the momentum rolling into the second half with a goal by senior Bekah Cundiff in the 58th minute to increase Milligan's lead 3-1. This was Cundiff's fourth conference goal of the season. Columbia came back 20 minutes later with a goal of their own by Courtney Carrier, who also scored the first goal in the first half but it was not enough for the Koalas to be victorious.
Overall Milligan outshot Columbia 15-5. Milligan's dominance on the field continued into the second half as Buffs goalkeeper Lauren Davies only had one save on the night.
Up next, Milligan returns home for a matchup against AAC foe Tennessee Wesleyan on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 5 p.m.
