Buffs defeat Cavs, 2-1
The Milligan College women’s soccer team outshot Montreat 19 to six and defeated the Cavaliers 2-1 Saturday afternoon in Black Mountain.

BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. (Sept. 28, 2019) – The Milligan College women's soccer team outshot Montreat 19 to six and defeated the Cavaliers 2-1 Saturday afternoon in Black Mountain.
First half scoring
Alyson McMillan put the Buffs on the board 12 minutes into the first half, and Taylor Dawson added another goal eight minutes later to give Milligan an early 2-0 lead over Montreat. McMillan had five shots with two being on goal, and Dawson had two shots with both being on goal. Milligan outshot Montreat 14-4 in the first half.
Montreat cuts the lead in half
The Cavs cut the 2-0 lead in half at the beginning of the second half at the 56th minute mark. Kaitlyn Adams scored Montreat's lone goal of the night to make the score 2-1. Only five of Montreat's players attempted to find the back of the net compared to Milligan's eight. The Buffs made the Montreat goalies combine for nine saves on the evening, while Milligan goalie Lauren Davies accounted for five.

Milligan travels to Columbia College to take on the Koalas on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. The Buffs then return home to face Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Tennessee Wesleyan on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 5 p.m.
