No. 10 Buffaloes Women’s Golf Begins Spring Campaign with Third Place Finish at TMU Spring Classic
OJAI, Calif. — The No. 10-ranked Milligan University women's golf program had members of their program at a pair of competitions of over the course of Monday and Tuesday, with their top five qualifiers heading to the TMU Spring Classic in Ojai, Calif. Thesquad placed third out of eight competing teams, just one shot out of second. Additionally, three individuals played at the Agnes McAmis Memorial in Greeneville, Tenn.
In California, Milligan's squad included Mallory TeVrucht, Kate Castle, Catalina Easley, Sarah Castle and Liz Miller, with Bailey McGaha playing as an individual. They combined to shoot 629, which is 53-over-par for the event. They placed third behind Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University of Arizona (+40) and Hope International University (+52).
As an individual, the Buffs had TeVrucht finish in sixth, shooting a +10 for the event with rounds of 79 and 75. K. Castle placed 10th overall with her +12 two-day score, notching 81-shot and 75-shot rounds.
Easley placed 16th, scoring a +15 score on rounds of 81 and 78, while S. Castle finished 17th at +16 on an 82 and a 78.
Miller placed 25th with an 82 and an 87, while McGaha tied for 17th overall playing unattached with rounds of 82 and 78.
At the Agnes McAmis Memorial, Madison Butler, Christa Woodard and Skye Perdue competed as individuals, scoring 37th, 40th and 48th-place finishes, respectively.
Butler shot a 27-over-par 169, while Woodard shot a +29 two-round score of 171. Perdue's +41 score of 183 strokes was the final tally for the Buffs.
Overall, it was an encouraging start to the spring slate for the Milligan women, as they look forward to two weeks ahead when they will host the Northeast Tennessee Spring Shootout on Apr. 1 at the Johnson City Country Club.
