Women's Golf places third at AAC Championships; Bailey McGaha and Mallory TeVrucht
ACWORTH, Ga. (April 17, 2024) - Milligan University women's golf carded a third-place showing at the 2024 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Tournament championship.
ACWORTH, Ga. (April 17, 2024) - Milligan University women's golf carded a third-place showing at the 2024 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Tournament championship.
The two-day, three-round tournament was held at the Governor's Towne Club in Acworth, Ga., on Monday and Tuesday.
The tournament started well for the Buffs as they led the field following the opening round. Milligan posted a first-round score of 300 with Truett McConnell sitting second at 302 and SCAD Atlanta third at 315.
However, Milligan posted a 317 in the second round and capped the tournament with a 325 in the final round to finish with a 78-over 942 for third place. SCAD Atlanta won at 910, while Truett McConnell took second at 914.
Gabby Hammond and Bailey McGaha led the Buffs as they tied for ninth overall with an 18-over 234. Kate Castle was next in line, tying for the 11th at 19-over 235. Mallory TeVrucht was 14th at 23-over 239.
The All-AAC Team was announced at the tournament, and McGaha and TeVrucht earned second-team honors.
Milligan will now wait to see if it will receive an at-large bid to the NAIA National Championship Meet, which is set for May 14-17 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.
