No. 9 Women’s Golf finishes fourth at AAC Fall Preview
BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. (October 24, 2023) – The No. 9 Milligan University women’s golf team finished fourth of eight teams at the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Fall Preview at The Windermere Club in South Carolina on Tuesday.
BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. (October 24, 2023) – The No. 9 Milligan University women's golf team finished fourth of eight teams at the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Fall Preview at The Windermere Club in South Carolina on Tuesday.
Milligan finished with 622 strokes, one shot behind third-place Pikeville. No. 14 Truett McConnell won the tournament with 587 strokes and No. 19 SCAD Atlanta was second with 607 strokes.
Milligan struggled in the opening round as the Buffs notched just one birdie in the opening 18 holes. Every player recorded a double- or triple-bogie the first hole to begin the tournament. The Buffs saw a 10-stroke improvement in the second round as Milligan's scorers recorded six birdies and a pair of eagles.
Mallory TeVrucht had Milligan's top round of the tournament on Thursday with a 74. She led the Buffs and tied for ninth at 153 strokes.
Bailey McGaha and Sarah Castle tied for 12th with 154 strokes. McGaha posted a 75 on Tuesday while Castle carded a 77 in both rounds.
Gabby Hammond placed 24th and Kate Castle tied for 25th.
Milligan closes its fall schedule at the Buzz Invitational, hosted by Emory & Henry, at the Glenrochie Country Club this weekend.
