No. 9 Women’s Golf wins East Tennessee Collegiate
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (September 26, 2023) – The No. 9 Milligan University women’s golf team took the East Tennessee Collegiate tournament title by a single stroke at the Johnson City Country Club on Tuesday.

The Buffs entered the second day of the 36-hole tournament trialing new Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) foe Pikeville by a single stroke. The Buffs finished two strokes better than the Bears over the final 18 holes to finish with a team score of 607, compared to 608 for Pikeville. The Buffs also finished ahead of fellow AAC opponents Brenau, Bryan and Montreat.
Kate Castle, Gabby Hammond and Sarah Castle each earned all-tournament honors with top-five individual finishes in the 42-woman field. Kate Castle and Hammond led the field with 10 and seven birdies respectively and Sarah Castle tied for first at the tournament with 25 pars.
Kate Castle was the tournament runner-up with a two-round total of (+1) 145. She and Pikeville's Carly Crooks shot a tournament-low 70 on Monday and followed with a 75 on Tuesday.
Gabby Hammond carded a 73 on Tuesday to finish fourth at 147 strokes. Sarah Castle finished fifth at 150 strokes (73-77), five strokes ahead of the next finisher.
Liz Miller led Milligan's alternate team with a 10th-place finish at 159 strokes. Skye Perdue followed in 14th with 162 strokes.
Mallory TeVrucht tied for 16th and Bailey McGaha was 19th.
The Buffs travel to the Southern Virginia Knights Invitational Oct. 9-10.
