No. 9 Women’s Golf places third at Players Club Invitational
YORKTOWN, Ind. (September 4, 2023) – The No. 9 Milligan University women’s golf team used a tournament-low round on Saturday to finish third at the Players Club Invitational at TPC Woodland Trails over the weekend.
YORKTOWN, Ind. (September 4, 2023) – The No. 9 Milligan University women's golf team used a tournament-low round on Saturday to finish third at the Players Club Invitational at TPC Woodland Trails over the weekend.
The Buffs' Saturday team score of 303 matched the lowest team round of the tournament as the Buffs finished with a tournament total of 620, two strokes behind the tournament winner No. 23 University of Northwestern Ohio and one stroke back of No. 13 Taylor. The Buffs finished ahead of No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan.
In Saturday's second round, all five of Milligan's players shot 78 or better. Returning Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Player of the Year Kate Castle and senior Gabby Hammond both shot 75 to lead the Buffs on Saturday.
Sarah Castle led the Buffs with a 36-hole score of 154 with a team-best 78 on Friday and a 76 on Saturday. Kate Castle and Hammond both totaled 155 strokes for the tournament. Freshman Bailey McGaha posted a tournament total of 157 (79-78) with a pair of sub-80 rounds in her Milligan debut.
The Buffs return to action next week at the Music City Fall Invitational at Pine Creek Golf Club.
