No. 11 Women’s Golf sets single-round school record as Buffs win Northeast Tennessee Spring Shootout
ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (April 11, 2023) – The No. 11 Milligan University women’s golf team cruised to a tournament title with Alayna Perryman claiming medalist honors at the Northeast Tennessee Spring Shootout at the Elizabethton Golf Course on Tuesday.
ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (April 11, 2023) – The No. 11 Milligan University women's golf team cruised to a tournament title with Alayna Perryman claiming medalist honors at the Northeast Tennessee Spring Shootout at the Elizabethton Golf Course on Tuesday.
The Buffs topped the four-team standings with a two round total of 596, Milligan's lowest two-round total at a par-72 course. All 36 holes of the tournament were played on Tuesday as Milligan posted a 302 in round one and a single-round program record (+6) 294 in round two. Milligan finished ahead of second place Emory & Henry by 54 strokes.
Playing in the same grouping, Perryman and Kate Castle posted even-par 72s in round one to establish a six-strike lead over the field. In round two, Perryman notched two birdies and 15 pars on her way to a one-under 71 to match Milligan's 36-hole tournament record of 143. Castle posted a 74 in round to finish second at 146 strokes by seven strokes.
Sarah Castle and Mallory TeVrucht joined Perryman and Kate Castle on the all-tournament teams as the duo finished third and fourth respectively. Sarah Castle went 78-75 to finish in third place at 154 strokes. TeVrucht improved from an 80 in round one to a 74 in round two to tie for fourth at 154 strkoes.
Gracie Johns and Skye Perdue tied for 12th at 167 strokes. Hannah Goodwin was 14th with 168 strokes and Gabby Hammond was 15th at 170 strokes. Liz Miller tied for 16th and Christa Woodard was 21st.
The Buffs return to action next week at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Spring Championship/NAIA Direct Qualifier at the Link Hills Country Club in Greeneville, Tenn.
