No. 11 Women’s Golf places second by a stoke at Midway Eagle Invite
LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 4, 2023) – The No. 11 Milligan University women’s golf team placed second by a single stroke at the Midway Eagle Invite at the University Club of Kentucky Big Blue Course on Monday and Tuesday.

The Buffs finished the 36-hole tournament with 616 strokes, one behind No. 23 Marian, who took home the tournament title. The Buffs finished 14 strokes ahead of No. 21 St. Thomas who finished third.
Milligan had a second-best score in the opening round (307) and had the top team round on Tuesday at 309 strokes. However Marian had the best round overall at 304 to lift the Knights to the tournament title by the slimmest of margins.
Kate Castle was the individual runner-up in the 50-woman field. She turned in rounds of 76 and 75 to finish seven over par for the tournament at 151 strokes.
Alayna Perryman was part of a three-way tie for third at 153 strokes after posting scores of 76 and 77.
Sarah Castle (8th, 155) and Mallory TeVrucht (T-9th, 157) made it four Buffs in the top 10. Both Sarah Castle and TeVreucht shot 76 in their best round at the event.
Gabby Hammond (T-20th, 169) rounded out the Buffs' lineup with a top-half finish.
Milligan returns to action next week at the Buffs' home Mountain Empire Intercollegiate at the Elizabethton Golf Club next Tuesday.
