Final round powers No. 13 Women’s Golf to sixth-place finish at Music City Classic
OLD HICKORY, Tenn. (March 28, 2023) – The No. 13 Milligan University women’s golf team used a final round comeback to finish sixth among a loaded field at the Music City Classic at General’s Retreat at the Hermitage Golf Course.

The two-day 54-hole tournament featured 13 teams featured in the NAIA Top 25 national rankings, including six of the NAIA's top 10 teams. The Buffs sat 13th of 16 teams at the even after the first two rounds on Monday. In Tuesday's final round, Milligan fired a team score of 298, the fourth-best of the day to jump seven places and finish sixth overall.
The Buffs finished behind No. 2 Dalton State, No. 4 Keiser, No. 5 Cumberlands, No. 6 Southeastern and NCAA Division I Belmont. Milligan bested No. 7 Indiana Wesleyan, No. 10 Loyola, No. 11 Cumberland, No. 14 OUAZ, No. 16 Truett McConnell, No. 17 Lindsey Wilson, No. 19 UNOH, No. 21 Williams Penn and (RV) Marian with their round three charge.
Kate Castle led the Tuesday run with a 73 and was Milligan's top finisher as she tied for 11th at 225 strokes.
Sarah Castle had Milligan's top round on Monday, a 74, and finished tied for 30th at 231 strokes.
Alayna Perryman and Mallory TeVrucht both turned in rounds of 74 in their final rounds. TeVrucht finished tied for 41st. Perryman tied for 52nd.
Gabby Hammond posted a score of 77 in her final two rounds as she tied for 49th. All five members of the Buffs' scoring lineup finished in the top half of the 99 player field.
The Buffs return to action next week at the Eagle Spring Invitational at Big Blue.
