No. 13 Women’s Golf places third in spring opener
GAINESVILLE, Ga. (March 14, 2023) – The No. 13 Milligan University women’s golf team notched a third-place finish at the Golden Tigers Spring Invitational at Chattahoochee Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday in the Buffs’ spring opener.
GAINESVILLE, Ga. (March 14, 2023) – The No. 13 Milligan University women's golf team notched a third-place finish at the Golden Tigers Spring Invitational at Chattahoochee Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday in the Buffs' spring opener.
Milligan turned in the best single round of the two-day event with a 315 on Tuesday. The Buffs finished with a total of 649 strokes over two rounds, a single shot behind No. 21 Truett McConnell and seven strokes behind tournament champion No. 4 Southeastern.
Alayna Perryman collected all-tournament honors with a third-place overall finish. She posted nine-straight pars and two birdies on her way to a 78 on Tuesday. Her two-round score of 159 was two strokes behind medalist Jala Stamey from Truett McConnell.
Sarah Castle tied for the top round on Tuesday with a 76 to jump up 12 spots to finish sixth at 161 strokes. Mallory TeVrucht posted a 78 to move up eight spots in round two to finish tied for 10th at 163 strokes.
Kate Castle (15th, 166) and Gabby Hammond (T-20, 172) made it all five Buffs inside the top 20 of the 54-player field.
Milligan heads to Link Hills Country Club, the site of the 2023 Appalachian Athletic Conference Championship, next week for the Pioneer Spring College.
