No. 12 Women’s Golf wins East Tennessee Collegiate in record-breaking fashion
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (September 27, 2022) – The No. 12 Milligan University women’s golf team used a record-breaking opening round to power the Buffs to a team title at the East Tennessee Collegiate at the Johnson City Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (September 27, 2022) – The No. 12 Milligan University women's golf team used a record-breaking opening round to power the Buffs to a team title at the East Tennessee Collegiate at the Johnson City Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.
Behind a two-under round (71) by Gabby Hammond on Monday, Milligan posted a single-round record of 295 strokes, which is the top round by a Milligan women's golf team to date. Hammond's round tied Milligan's individual single-round record at two under-par (par 73).
The Buffs went on to post a 308 on Tuesday for a 36-hole score of 603, matching the program's previous best two-day tournament total, set in Fall 2020. The Buffs finished seven strokes ahead of second place, No. 10 SCAD Atlanta.
Alayna Perryman earned all-tournament honors for the third time this season as she finished third at 148 (74-74) strokes.
Kate Castle placed seventh at 151 strokes and Hammond tied for eighth at 152. Hannah Goodwin and Mallory TeVrucht made it five Buffs in the top 10 as both players put up a score of 154.
Sarah Castle tied for 23rd (160) and Gracie Johns tied for 30th (163) in the 71-player field.
Women's Golf heads to the OUAZ Phoenix Invitational in Arizona next week.
