Women’s Golf finishes 16th at NAIA National Championship
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (May 27, 2022) – The Milligan University women’s golf team had its best round and finished 16th overall on the final day of the NAIA National Championship at Lincoln Park West Golf Course in Oklahoma City on Friday.
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (May 27, 2022) – The Milligan University women's golf team had its best round and finished 16th overall on the final day of the NAIA National Championship at Lincoln Park West Golf Course in Oklahoma City on Friday.
The Buffs closed the three-round tournament with a team score of 302, bettering their totals of 306 and 304 in the first two rounds. Milligan's tournament score of 912 was a stroke behind 14th-place Taylor and Southeastern and seven strokes out of a top-10 national finish. British Columbia claimed the national championship with a four-under 860.
Alayna Perryman and Kate Castle tied for 38th overall to lead the Buffs in the 90-player field that made the cut. Perryman posted her best round of the tournament (74) after Castle had the Buffs' best round of the tournament yesterday (72). Both players finished with 226 strokes.
Sarah Castle finished 47th at 229 strokes and Meryl Castle tied for 58th with a score of 231. Meryl Castle and Gabby Hammond both her their best round of the national championship on Friday as both players carded a 76.
Milligan's team finish is the third-highest in program history.
