No. 13 Women’s Golf leads Mountain Empire Intercollegiate by 21 strokes after round one

ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (April 11, 2022) – The No. 13 Milligan University women's golf team opened up a 21-stroke lead on the first day of the Mountain Empire Intercollegiate at the Elizabethton Golf Club on Monday.

The Buffs recorded a team score of 312 strokes. Bryan followed with 333 strokes and Reinhardt sits in third at 336.

Sarah Castle and Gabby Hammond both cared 77s to tie for second place in the 48-player field after 18 holes.

After a difficult start, Alayna Perryman rallied back with a 36 over her final nine holes to scratch out a 78 to rank fourth on the leaderboard.

Kate Castle sits in sixth place after firing an 80. Emma Brown and individual Gracie Johnson are tied for 13th after shooting 83s.

The Mountain Empire Intercollegiate concludes tomorrow.
