Emma Browns wins Nick England Memorial as No. 18 Buffs take home team title
KINGSPORT, Tenn. (October 11, 2021) – Senior Emma Brown became the ninth medalist in Milligan University women’s golf history as the Buffs took home the team title at the Nick England Memorial at the Cattails at Meadowview on Monday.
KINGSPORT, Tenn. (October 11, 2021) – Senior Emma Brown became the ninth medalist in Milligan University women's golf history as the Buffs took home the team title at the Nick England Memorial at the Cattails at Meadowview on Monday.
Brown shot even-par 71 to win the 33-player tournament by a single stroke.
Milligan "black" won the tournament at 300 strokes while Milligan "orange" took second with a team score of 304. Third-place Emory & Henry finished 41 strokes behind Milligan's second-place squad.
Sarah Castle and Gabby Hammond led the Buffs' "black" squad as both players shot even-par 72 on the day. Castle took the runner-up plaque by virtue of a scorecard play-off and Hammond took third.
Alayna Perryman posted a plus-two 74 to finish fourth. Izzy Greggs placed fifth at 76 stokes. Meryl Castle carded a 79 to tie for seventh.
Gracie Johns, Kate Castle and Jenny Simonsen tied for ninth at 80. Hannah Goodwin tied for 13th with 81 strokes and Danielle Mirovich tied for 16th at 84.
The Buffs head to Georgia or the AAC Fall Championship at the Barnsley Resort in Adairsville, Ga. In two weeks.
