Perryman and No. 10 Women’s Golf lead after round one at Jekyll Island

The Buffs lead the nine team event where just 11 strokes separate the top five teams. Southeastern University sits three strokes behind the Buffs at 311. South Carolina Beaufort is third at 315 and Coastal Georgia and St. Thomas (Fla.) are tied for fourth after both logging 319.
The Jekyll Island Golf Club's Pine Lakes course is a par-72 and spans 5,978 yards.
Returning All-American Alayna Perryman leads the 57-golfer field by three strokes with a one-under 71.
Emma Brown is in a six-way tie for fifth with a plus-six 78. Meryl Castle stands a stroke out of the top five with a first round 79.
Kate Castle checks in at 14th with an 80 while Izzy Griggs and Jenny Simonsen are 17th at 81.
The Buffs finish up the two-day event in Georgia tomorrow.
