Women’s golf closes fall with high marks
The Milligan College women’s golf team has achieved impressive numbers in the latest Golfstat statistical ranking.
The Milligan College women's golf team has achieved impressive numbers in the latest Golfstat statistical ranking. As a team, the Buffs are ranked No. 21 nationally in the NAIA coaches top 25 poll and No. 23 statistically in the latest Golfstat scoring average ranking. Individually, five Milligan individuals rank in the top 150 in scoring average. As a team, the Buffs have been ranked as high as No. 16 in the NAIA coaches poll.
As a team, Milligan women won two tournaments, had two runner-up finishes and one fourth of 16 finish as they compiled a fall season record of 37-5.
Individually, freshman Michaela Lindahl led the Buffs. Lindahl, from Hollviken, Sweden, ranks No. 15 nationally in scoring average with an impressive 74.7 strokes per round. Lindahl had to miss the final two tournaments of the fall season with a wrist injury. Four other Buffs players rank in the top 150, all with averages in the 70's.
Alayna Perryman, a sophomore from Newport, Tennessee, stepped forward when Lindahl had to leave the lineup with her injury. Perryman is ranked 83rd nationally in scoring average at 78.0. She had three top 10 finishes including an impressive third-place finish at the Chick-Fil-A Invitational in Rome, Georgia.
Sophomore Emma Brown ranks 131 nationally in scoring average with a 79.8 average. Brown had a top five finish at the East Tennessee Collegiate, earning all-tournament.
Junior Danielle Mirovich ranks 137 nationally in scoring average with a 79.9 average. Mirovich finished eighth at the East Tennessee Collegiate and 15th at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Fall Championship.
Senior Nellie Berglund is the fifth Milligan player recognized in the top 150 nationally. She ranks 142 with a 79.8 average. Berglund earned all-tournament at the East Tennessee Collegiate and a seventh-place finish at the Mars Hill University Invitational.
Milligan women's golf will open the spring season at the Callaway Gardens Invitational in Pine Mountain, Georgia, March 9-10, 2020.
