KANSAS CITY, Mo. (March 4, 2024) – The Milligan University women's bowling team was named as a national qualifier to the 2024 NAIA Women's Bowling National Championship on Monday afternoon.
The Buffs grabbed one of six at-large bids to the 12-team championship field. Milligan closed the season as the No. 4 team in the NAIA's final RPI release. The Buffs earned a spot in last year's national championship field by virtue of winning the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) championship. Last winter, Milligan earned the No. 9 seed at the championship and went 1-2 in bracket play.
In the program's second season, Milligan continued its ascent as one of the top programs in the NAIA, region and nation. The Buffs ended the season ranked No. 17 in the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) online team rankings for all collegiate bowling. Milligan posted seven top-five finishes and four top-10 showings at Tier 1 competitions. The Buffs were sixth of 66 teams at the Tier 1 Columbia 300 Hoosier Classic and finished as the runner-up at the Southern States Athletic Conference Championships.
The NAIA Men's and Women's Bowling National Championships will take place at 5 Star Lanes March 21-23 in Sterling Heights, Mich. The championship will open with baker play to decide seeding on Thursday, March 21. Once seeding is confirmed, brackets will be announced and teams will compete through a double-elimination bracket for The Battle of the Red Banner.
