Women’s Bowling takes fifth at MSC Lynne Jordan Memorial
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (January 20, 2024) – The Milligan University women’s bowling team placed fifth at the Mid-South Conference Lynne Jordan Memorial on Saturday.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (January 20, 2024) – The Milligan University women's bowling team placed fifth at the Mid-South Conference Lynne Jordan Memorial on Saturday.
"Very proud of our fifth place finish," said head coach Brian Rickert. "With the bad weather over the past week, we lost out on some practice time and started a little slow but really picked it up with a big second game."
The one-day tournament format included five team games and a dozen baker games. At the completion of the team games Milligan sat fourth with 4,874 total pins. In baker play, Milligan totaled 2,281 pins (190.08 average) to finish with 7,155 total pins to finish fifth in the 17-team standings.
Emily Cheesman collected all-tournament honors as she finished second overall with 1,101 total pins (220.2 average), just three pins shy of tournament champions Jaqueline Witura of Webber. Cheesman went over 200 pins four times in five games with a high of 258.
Brianna Rickert joined Cheesman inside the top-10 with a seventh-place showing. Rickert totaled 1,063 pins (212.6 average) with high games of 243 and 233.
"Emily Cheesman and Brianna Rickert had great looks to the pocket and were steady all day," said Brian Rickert.
Allison Robbins knocked down over 200 pins in each of her first two games and finished 20th with 991 pins (198.2 average). Emilee Horton averaged 184.5 pins in four games.
Emily King paced the Buffs' junior varsity as she placed 47th with 896 pins (179.2 pins).
Milligan returns to action tomorrow in Kentucky at the MSC Thomas Burris Memorial.
