ALLENTOWN, Pa. (December 19, 2023) – The Milligan University women's bowling team placed 10th of 19 teams at the Tier 1 Lehigh Valley Collegiate Classic at Haja Rose Bowl in Pennsylvania on Monday and Tuesday.
The tournament format featured five individual team games and 20 baker games. The tournament field featured five teams that rank among the United States Bowling Congress top 25. The Buffs cleared 7,760 pins, 40 short of ninth-place University of Northwestern Ohio.
"I'm really proud of these ladies and the fact that even when we're not performing our best, they continue to grind, learn and get experience they'll use at the next event," said head coach Brian Rickert. "For the last couple days, we just couldn't repeat shots and when we did, we just didn't get the pins to fall."
Emily Cheesman was Milligan's top individual performer as she finished 13th with 942 pins (188.4 average) across five individual games with a high of 199.
Emilee Horton averaged 179.0 pins in four games with a high of 205 in her opener. Brianna Rickert had a high game of 200 and a four-game average of 173.0.
In 20 baker games, Milligan cleared 3,470 pins (173.5 average) to move up one spot in the standings to finish 10th.
"Our best set was our last one and it'll be a good starting point for tomorrow's event," said Rickert.
Milligan returns to action tomorrow with another Tier 1 event in PA, the Roto Grip Keystone Quaker Classic.
