Emily Cheesman named first bowling NAIA All-American in Milligan history
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (March 22, 2023) – Milligan University freshman Emily Cheesman was announced as a 2022-23 NAIA Women’s Bowling Second Team All-American by the association on Wednesday afternoon.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (March 22, 2023) – Milligan University freshman Emily Cheesman was announced as a 2022-23 NAIA Women's Bowling Second Team All-American by the association on Wednesday afternoon.
Cheesman is the first Milligan bowler to claim NAIA All-America honors in school history. Milligan women's bowling is in its first year of competition while Milligan's men's bowling team is in its second season.
Cheesman was tabbed as the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Co-Player of the Year, the SSAC Rookie of the Year and was named All-SSAC First Team.
One of the top freshmen in all of collegiate bowling, Cheesman ranks fifth nationally among all freshmen with a 192.397 average across 10 events this season. She collected four all-tournament honors and took home individual titles at the Tier 1 Bowlero Southern Classic and the Mid-South Brandon Burns Memorial. Cheesman ranked No. 17 in the nation with a 197.654 Tier 1 average with two Tier 1 outings with averages over 216 pins.
In the first season of Milligan women's bowling the Buffs won the SSAC Championship and earned an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship, which begins tomorrow.
