Women’s Bowling ranks 13th in latest NAIA RPI release
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (January 11, 2023) – The Milligan University women’s bowling team has made its way into the national conversation in its first season of competition.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (January 11, 2023) – The Milligan University women's bowling team has made its way into the national conversation in its first season of competition.
The Buffs checked in at the No. 13 spot in the latest release of the NAIA Women's Ratings Percentage Index (RPI).
"The ladies have put together a phenomenal season in their first year," said head coach Brian Rickert. "We're excited to be climbing up the rankings and getting ready for the postseason. Our work is definitely not finished!"
The NAIA releases four in-season national RPI rankings throughout the year for bowling with the final set of rankings scheduled for March 3. The RPI rankings are used for seeding and at-large selection at the NAIA National Champions. The 2022-23 NAIA Women's Bowling National Championships will feature a 12-team field made of up automatic qualifiers and at-large selections.
The Buffs have three of the top 15 nationally-ranked freshmen across all of college bowling in the latest individual rankings. Emily Cheesman is the No. 4-ranked freshman in the nation with an average of 191.213. Elizabeth Coutta (No. 12) and Laci MacQuisten (No. 14) join Cheesman as some of the nations premier freshmen. All three bowlers have earned Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Bowler of the Week laurels this season.
