Quartet of Milligan Women's Basketball Athletes Named CSC Academic All-District
MILLIGAN, Tenn. - College Sports Communicators (CSC) revealed their list of Women's Basketball Academic All-District honorees on Tuesday afternoon, as the Buffs boasted the maximum number of honorees, with Jaycie Jenkins, Lauren Longmire, Semaj Clark and Tessa Gibson earning the recognition. Jenkins will move on and be considered for the CSC Academic All-America Teams, as well.
Jenkins has a 4.0 GPA in the Pre-Med program, and is one of the most storied athletes in Milligan women's basketball history, now sitting in third all-time in scoring at the institution with 2,411 points. She had her best season in her final campaign, as she scored a career-best 20.8 points per game for a career-high 688 points and shot the orange at otherworldly clips of 54.8% FG, 49.2% 3PT, and 93.1% FT. She also was MU's leading rebounder, as she hauled in 7.9 rebounds per game.
Longmire has a 3.78 GPA in the Psychology program at Milligan, and has been a steady contributor on the floor for the Buffaloes in all four of her years. Her senior season included impressive achievements like her 1,500th point and helping her squad reach the national tourney second round for the first time since 1998-99. She scored 13.4 points per game, and boasted a 47.8% FG mark. She hauled in 4.5 rebounds per contest and dished out 3.6 assists, as well.
Clark's 3.61 GPA in the Nursing major helped earn her spot on the All-District list, as she had an unbelievable year, taking a huge leap in her penultimate season. She scored her 1,000th point during the season, and scored a total of 512 points on 47.4% FG shooting. She notched 15.5 points per game to finish second on the squad. She was second on the team in rebounding with a 7.6 mark per game. Clark doled out 3.7 assists per game as a table-setter, which led the team.
Gibson has posted a 3.78 GPA in the Child & Youth Development program at Milligan, while serving in an integral role on the basketball squad. She was the team's backup point guard and took to the role beautifully. She played in 32 of the team's 33 games and scored a total of 118 points for a 3.7 average per game. She also grabbed just over one rebound per contest and had just over one assist per game.
