Clark Achieves 1,000-Point Milestone in (RV) Buffs Women’s Basketball Win at TMU
CLEVELAND, Ga. — The (RV) Milligan University women's basketball team trekked to Cleveland, Ga. for the final road regular-season matchup of the 2025 slate at the Bears of Truett McConnell University. The Lady Buffs were in control from the start and never wavered, earning an 88-61 win.
Quarter number one saw the Buffaloes sport a 10-point advantage, 23-13. They were 10-of-18 from the field, while holding TMU to just 5-of-15.
Milligan would then stretch the lead to 19 points entering the half, as they managed a 12-of-17 clip in the second period. The Buffs continued to snuff out the Bears' offense, holding the hosts to just 7-of-18 from the floor. The MU lead stood at 48-29 with 20 minutes left to be played.
The third quarter was the most dominant one of the day for the Buffaloes, as their 28-11 edge over the 10-minute frame made it a 76-40 lead. TMU could hit only four shots on 17 tries in the stanza, while the Buffs sunk 10-of-14.
Frame number four was the only slow one for the Milligan offense, as they made only five shots on 16 tries. The Bears shot 9-of-22 to hold a 21-12 advantage lead over the course of the final quarter. Luckily the lead for MU was too large to overcome, as they came away with a dominant 88-61 triumph.
The day was all about Semaj Clark, who scored 20 points and became the 30th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points. She was able to knock down nine shots on 14 attempts to reach the career milestone. Jaycie Jenkins sunk 6-of-12 to pour in 15 points in the win. Lauren Longmire also supplied double-digit points, tallying 13 points on a 6-of-8 day from the field.
Longmire and Lina Lyon dished out five assists each in the battle, while Clark handed out four. Jenna Hare disbursed three off the bench, while Jenkins, Kenzie Campbell and Lexi Ervin had the other three.
Jenkins had a team-best 13 rebounds to achieve a double-double. Clark then added six rebounds and Hare hauled in five. Campbell, Ervin, McKenna Myers, Nina Lovelace and Renna Lane all grabbed two. Lyon and Caroline Krueger jabbed the remaining two.
Clark had a four-steal, one-block day on defense, while Lyon supplied three thefts of her own. Tessa Gibson had two takeaways and Jenkins and Longmire had the other two. Krueger had a single block for the squad, as well.
Milligan will return home to Steve Lacy Fieldhouse for their Senior Night on Wednesday, Feb. 19, when they battle the Tennessee Wesleyan University Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m.
