Four named to CSC Academic All-District Team
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (March 26, 2024) - Four Milligan University women's basketball players were named as Academic All-District selections by the College Sports Communicators on Tuesday.
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (March 26, 2024) - Four Milligan University women's basketball players were named as Academic All-District selections by the College Sports Communicators on Tuesday.
Receiving the honors were Jaycie Jenkins, Lauren Longmire, Madi Runnels, and Semaj Clark.
To qualify for nomination, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore both academically and athletically, have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, and compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played or start in at least 66 percent of the games.
Jenkins, an All-Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) First Team selection, started 29 of the 30 games she played in this season and led the Buffaloes in scoring at 17.1 points per game. She also averaged 6.0 rebounds per game and had 60 assists, 31 steals, and 15 blocks.
Longmire was also an All-AAC First Team selection. The junior averaged 13.9 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. She led Milligan with 128 assists and had 50 steals and five blocks which earned her a spot on the AAC All-Defensive Team.
Runnels played in 31 games and averaged 3.4 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. She also had 35 assists, 17 steals and 31 blocks. Runnels netted a season-high 12 points in an 83-51 win at Columbia International on Feb. 10.
Clark, an All-AAC Second Team and AAC All-Defensive Team honoree, averaged 11.5 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. She dished out 94 assists and recorded 35 steals and 17 blocks.
All four were also named to the AAC All-Academic Team.
Milligan posted a 23-8 overall record and placed third in the AAC with a 19-3 conference mark. The Buffaloes received an at-large bid to the NAIA National Championship Tournament, marking the team's first national postseason appearance since 2019.
