Women’s Basketball scores 100 in win at Columbia (S.C.)
COLUMBIA, S.C. (February 8, 2024) – The Milligan University women’s basketball team began a late-season four-game road trip with a 100-81 triumph at Columbia (S.C.) on Thursday evening.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (February 8, 2024) – The Milligan University women's basketball team began a late-season four-game road trip with a 100-81 triumph at Columbia (S.C.) on Thursday evening.
Milligan rises to 18-6 on the season and 15-3 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) league play. The Koalas fall to 10-14, 7-12 AAC.
The Koalas led Milligan 10-8 through the first four minutes of action. The game was tied at 13 midway through the first quarter before the Buffs reeled off a 20-2 run to close the quarter. Jaycie Jenkins, Semaj Clark and Jenna Hare sank threes during the streak as Milligan carried a 33-15 into the second quarter.
The Buffs led by as many as 22 points (50-28) in the second quarter and maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the night.
The Buffs had six scorers finish with double-figures. Jenkins and Hare each had 25 points. Jenkins added five rebounds while Hare grabbed six.
Lauren Longmire posted 12 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals. Halie Padgett had 11 points in 12 minutes and Kenzie Campbell recorded 11 points and five rebounds. Semaj Clark had 10 points and five rebounds.
The Buffs shot 51.4 percent from the field and hit 10 threes at 45.5 percent. Milligan's bench outscored Columbia's 39-11.
Milligan returns to South Carolina on Saturday to take on Columbia International.
