Women’s Basketball downs TWU 75-48
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (February 6, 2024) – The Milligan University women’s basketball team earned a 75-48 wire-to-wire win over Tennessee Wesleyan on Smith-Harris Court in the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse on Tuesday evening.
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (February 6, 2024) – The Milligan University women's basketball team earned a 75-48 wire-to-wire win over Tennessee Wesleyan on Smith-Harris Court in the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse on Tuesday evening.
Milligan completes a season sweep over the Bulldogs and moves to 17-6 on the season and 14-3 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) action. TWU falls to 7-11, 9-11.
The Buffs opened the game on a 14-0 run with six different players scoring and Jaycie Jenkins and Madi Runnels canning treys.
A 12-0 run in the second quarter extended Milligan's lead to 22 points (34-12). At the halftime break, Milligan led 41-26.
The Buffs outscored TWU 22-11 in the third quarter with Jenkins scoring eight points, Semaj Clark and six and Halie Padgett added five in the frame. The Buffs carried a 63-37 lead into the fourth quarter and came away with the 75-48 win.
Jenkins led the Buffs with 19 points. Clark had 13 points and six rebounds. Padgett finished with 12 points and four rebounds. Jenna Hare had 11 points and four rebounds. Lauren Longmire had five points, 11 rebounds and three assists.
The Buffs outrebounded TWU 52-36 on the night. Milligan made 11 threes at a 44.0 percent clip.
Milligan travels to Columbia (S.C.) on Thursday.
