Longmire scores 1,000th career point in win over Truett McConnell
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (January 31, 2024) – The Milligan University women’s basketball team cruised to an 86-41 victory over Truett McConnell on Smith-Harris Court in the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse on Wednesday evening.

Milligan advances to 15-6 overall and 12-3 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play. TMU falls to 8-14, 7-9 AAC.
Junior Lauren Longmire scored her 1,000th career point as a Buff with a three-point play three minutes into the action. Her foul shot capped a 7-0 run in less than two minutes of game time to give Milligan a 9-2 lead.
After four full minutes of scoreless play, Semaj Clark cashed in on a three-point play of her own and Longmire made a layup to give Milligan a 14-2 edge with two minutes left in the opening quarter. TMU trimmed its deficit to eight before Longmire scored the final basket of the quarter on a coast-to-coast layup right before the quarter's final horn.
A 10-0 Milligan run that featured three-pointers by Jenna Hare and Lina Lyon pushed Milligan's lead to 37-10 with four minutes left in the first half. Truett McConnell scored six-straight points before McKenna Myers drained a three in the final minute to send the teams to halftime break with the Buffs leading 40-16.
After an evenly-played third quarter the Buffs carried a 58-32 lead into the fourth. Milligan drained six treys in the final period on its way to an 86-41 victory.
Longmire reached the 1,000 point milestone in her 82nd career game. She finished with 18 points, seven assists and six steals. Jaycie Jenkins poured in 24 points. Clark had 10 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals. Halie Padgett finished with nine points.
Milligan racked up a season high 19 steals and scored 38 points off 27 TMU turnovers. The Buffs won the rebounding battle 45-34 and had 10 players score in the win.
The Buffs travel to Kentucky Christian on Saturday.
