Women’s Basketball rolls past TWU 73-54

The Buffs rise to 11-4 on the season and 8-1 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) action. TWU falls to 5-6, 3-6 AAC.
The game featured three lead changes in the first three minutes of action before a trey by Semaj Clask gave the Buffs a lead they would never relinquish. The Bulldogs worked back within one (15-14) with four minutes left in the quarter but the Buffs responded with the next basket and carried a 19-15 lead into the second quarter.
Milligan opened the second quarter with a 15-3 run and led by as many as 18 (38-20) in the second quarter.
TWU worked back to a 12-point deficit (42-30) three minutes into the third quarter but the Buffs scored the next 13 points with Jaycie Jenkins draining a pair of threes and Kenzie Campbell converting a three-point play. Madi Runnels closed the quarter with a three of her own as the Buffs led 62-38 going into the fourth quarter.
The Buffs led by 20-plus the entire fourth quarter before TWU's final basket as the Buffs took a 73-54 win.
Jenkins had 17 points, six rebounds and three assists on the day. Halie Padgett added 17 points and six rebounds. Lauren Longmire recorded 13 points, six rebounds and five assists and Semaj Clark had 13 points and five rebounds.
The Buffs won the rebounding battle 40-29 and finished plus-four in the turnover margin (8-4). Milligan shot 47.5 percent from the field while TWU shot 34.4 percent.
Milligan travels to Johnson for an AAC showdown on Wednesday evening.
