Milligan heads into Thanksgiving break with a 7-1 record and a 5-0 mark against Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) opponents. Union falls to 0-7, 0-5.
A slow Milligan start resulted in the Bulldogs jumping out to a 6-1 lead before Lauren Longmire converted the Buffs' first field goal with 6:33 left in the first quarter. Milligan outscored Union 8-0 over the final four minutes of the quarter as the Buffs led 16-7 after 10 minutes of action.
Milligan opened the second quarter on a 12-2 run that featured three-pointers by McKenna Myers and Lauren Longmire. The Buffs' lead stretched to as many as 21 points (34-13) midway through the second quarter. Milligan carried a 40-25 edge in the halftime break.
Union got within 14 points (52-38) late in the third quarter but a three-point play by Longmire, an Emma Harig layup and a putback by Semaj Clark in the closing seconds extended Milligan's advantage to 59-38 going into the fourth quarter.
The Bulldogs were never able to get within single digits in the final period as the Buffs were able to secure the 20-point victory.
Longmire poured in a season-high 18 points with five rebounds and four assists. Clark had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Harig added 11 points. Myers finished with nine points, four rebounds and four assists. Halie Padgett posted eight points and five rebounds.
Milligan won the rebounding battle 43-34 and had a 21-13 edge in the turnover margin. The Buffs scored 27 points off turnovers compared to six by Union.
The Buffs host Kentucky Christian next Wednesday.
