Women’s Basketball dismantles Truett McConnell 80-48
CLEVELAND, Ga. (November 14, 2023) – The Milligan University women’s basketball team rolled to an 80-48 victory at Truett McConnell on Tuesday evening.
CLEVELAND, Ga. (November 14, 2023) – The Milligan University women's basketball team rolled to an 80-48 victory at Truett McConnell on Tuesday evening.
The Buffs move to 5-1 on the season and 3-0 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play. Truett McConnell falls to 1-4, 1-2 AAC.
All 12 players who appeared for Milligan played double-digit minutes and scored in the win. Halie Padgett scored 10 points in the first 2:28 of the game as the Buffs opened the contest on a 15-3 run. Milligan led 29-11 after the first quarter and outscored the Bears 38-14 over the second and third quarters to enter the fourth quarter with a 67-25 lead.
Padgett finished with 20 points on eight-of-10 shooting in 16 minutes of action. Semaj Clark had 13 points. Emma Harig recorded nine points and five rebounds. Lauren Longmire registered eight points and seven assists.
Madi Runnels had a game-high eight rebounds. Jaycie Jenkins had seven points and five rebounds. Lina Lyon added six points and six rebounds.
Milligan outrebounded Truett McConnell 51-29 and held a 15-12 edge in the turnover battle. The Buffs outscored the Bears 23-9 off turnovers, 13-4 in second-chance points and 42-26 in the paint.
Milligan hosts Brenau on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
