Women’s Basketball downs Bluefield 110-54 in AAC opener
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (November 8, 2023) – The Milligan University women’s basketball team cruised to a 110-54 win over Bluefield in the Buffs’ conference opener in the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse on Wednesday evening.

The Buffs move to 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) action. Bluefield falls to 0-3.
Milligan scored the first seven points of the contest and built a double-digit lead (15-4) less than five minutes into the action. The Buffs shot 60 percent from the field as they won the first quarter 27-12.
A 13-2 run to open the second quarter grew Milligan's lead to 26 points (40-14) two minutes into the second quarter. Ten players scored in the opening half as Milligan led 56-29 at the break.
The Buffs continued to build their lead in the second half. A layup by Emma Harig broke the century mark in the fourth quarter as the Buffs finish with 110 points.
Milligan eclipsed 100 points for the first time since 2020 in the victory. Five players scored in double-figures as 11 players scored in the ballgame.
Halie Padgett led Milligan with 19 points, eight rebounds and four blocks. McKenna Myers had 16 points, Jaycie Jenkins poured in 15 points and had eight rebounds and four assists. Semaj Clark posted 12 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Harig and Lina Lyon both had 10 points off the Milligan bench. Lauren Longmire had nine points and six assists. Madi Runnels grabbed seven rebounds.
The Buffs shot 55.2 percent from the field and had 31 assists on 48 made backets. Milligan owned a 50-31 edge in the rebounding margin and won the turnover battle 23-8.
The Buffs travel to Pikeville on Saturday.
