Women’s Basketball bounces back with 67-50 win at St. Andrews
LAURINBURG, N.C. (February 11, 2023) – The Milligan University women’s basketball team snapped its three-game losing skid with a 67-50 victory at St. Andrews on Saturday afternoon.
LAURINBURG, N.C. (February 11, 2023) – The Milligan University women's basketball team snapped its three-game losing skid with a 67-50 victory at St. Andrews on Saturday afternoon.
The Buffs move to 19-9 on the season and 17-6 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play. St. Andrews falls to 3-22, 3-19 AAC.
Milligan opened the game by scoring 11 of the first 13 points of the day and never trailed at any point in the game. The Buffs led 20-7 at the end of the first quarter and owned a 36-24 halftime edge.
Kristy Galea and Semaj Clark had six points apiece in a 22-point third quarter for the Buffs. Milligan's largest lead of the game came early in the fourth quarter when the Buffs led 60-36.
Lauren Longmire led Milligan with 14 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Clark had 12 points with three made three-pointers and five rebounds. Jaycie Jenkins made eight free throws on her way to 12 points.
The Buffs shot eight-of-22 from three and 19-of-23 from the foul line. Milligan won the rebounding battle 38-31 and had 16 assists on 20 made baskets.
Milligan hosts Johnson (Tenn.) on Tuesday evening.
