GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (December 31, 2022) – The Milligan University women's basketball team fell to Tusculum 67-46 in an exhibition matchup on New Year's Eve.
The Pioneers, who are off to a 12-1 start and were featured in the latest NCAA Division II regional rankings, stymied Milligan's offensive attack. The Buffs were limited to season-lows in scoring and field goal percentage.
Milligan opened the game with three-pointers by Madi Runnels and Semaj Clark but an 11-0 Tusculum run gave the hosts a 13-6 advantage they would never relinquish. The Buffs scored the first two baskets of the second quarter to trim the margin to 19-15, but would get no closer than a three-point margin in a low-scoring period. Tusculum carried a 27-20 edge into halftime.
The Pioneers opened the second half with a three-pointer and would lead by at least eight points the rest of the afternoon to secure the exhibition victory 67-46.
Kristy Galea led Milligan with 14 points and nine rebounds. Lauren Longmire notched 10 points and four assists. Stacia Wilson had six points and six rebounds.
The Buffs resume Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Tuesday evening at Johnson (Tenn.).
