Women’s Basketball drops opening game at Jimmy Faulkner Classic

The Buffs fall to 0-2 on the year while Faulkner, who received votes in the opening NAIA preseason rankings, move to 3-0.
The Eagles outscored Milligan in all four quarters, but it was the 23-12 second quarter that helped the hosts gain a double-digit advantage for good. The closest Milligan came to Faulkner in the second half was an 11-point deficit several times in the third quarter.
Kristy Galea and Stacia Wilson paced Milligan with 14 points apiece. Erin Larkin dropped in a career-high 13 points with three made three-pointers. Madi Runnels had six points and a team-leading seven rebounds.
The Buffs knocked down 10 threes on the evening but Faulkner had a plus-12 advantage on the boards and were plus-eight in the turnover battle, leading to 10 more Eagle field goal attempts and 11 more free throws. Milligan's bench outscored Faulkner on the day 22-17.
The Eagles' Nequoia Adams was the game's leading scorer with 34 points on 12-of-22 shooting from the field and went eight-of-nine from the foul line.
The Buffs take on Thomas tomorrow in the second day of the Jimmy Faulkner Classic at 1:00 p.m.
