Women’s Basketball closes regular season home schedule with 92-36 win over St. Andrews
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (February 13, 2022) – The Milligan University women’s basketball team cruised to a 92-36 victory over St. Andrews on Sunday afternoon at the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.

Milligan concludes its regular season home slate 12-0 against Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) opponents. The Buffs rise to 19-7 on the year and 19-2 in AAC play. St. Andrews falls to 0-23, 0-22 AAC.
Milligan shot 11-of-11 from the free throw line in the first quarter while limiting the Knights to 17.6 percent (three-of-17) shooting from the field in the period. The Buffs led 13-6 after seven minutes of action and scored the final eight points of the quarter from the free throw line to lead 21-6 after the first 10 minutes of play.
The Buffs scored 16 points in the first four minutes of the second quarter as Milligan cashed in on eight of its first nine trips down the floor to open the period. A pair of free throws by Stacia Wilson put Milligan's advantage at 41-14 midway through the quarter.
Jaycie Jenkins and Halie Padgett combined for 30 points and were 14-of-15 from the foul line over the first 20 minutes. The Buffs shot 19-of-20 from the charity stripe and 53.6 percent from the field in the first half while outrebounding St. Andrews 26-10.
The Buffs' lead grew to 32 (55-23) after consecutive baskets by Padgett, Jenkins and Kayla Romines early in the third quarter. Jenkins accounted for 10-straight points on a pair of free throws, a three-point play, a three-pointer and layup to push the Milligan lead to 65-25 with four minutes left in the third. The Buffs outscored St. Andrews 21-8 in the third and led 70-30 going into the fourth.
A Romines three and three-point play by Padgett brought Milligan's advantage to 83-36 with just under four minutes remaining. A layup by Madi Runnels broke 90 points as the Buffs cruised to a 92-36 win.
Jenkins finished the day with 32 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the field and 11-of-12 shooting from the foul line. Sunday marked her fourth 30-point game of the season as she also collected eight rebounds. Padgett recorded 22 points and eight rebounds in 19 minutes.
Wilson had 10 points and six rebounds. Longmire notched six points and 10 rebounds.
The Buffs shot a season-best 58.2 percent from the field and converted 25-of-31 free throws. Milligan owned a 57-20 rebounding edge and outscored St. Andrews 50-18 in the paint.
Milligan heads to Point on Wednesday with an opportunity to clinch the second seed in the AAC Tournament.
