Buffs come away victorious at Reinhardt
Waleska, GA (February 8, 2022) — The Milligan University women’s basketball team defeated Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) opponent Reinhardt 75-69 Tuesday evening in a road matchup with the Eagles. With the win, the Buffs complete the sweep over Reinhardt in the regular season after winning the first game 78-71 at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.

With the win, the Buffs complete the sweep over Reinhardt in the regular season after winning the first game 78-71 at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
Milligan climbs to 17-7 (17-2 AAC) after the victory while Reinhardt falls to 11-13 (10-9 AAC) with the loss.
Through the first six minutes of the game, Milligan and Reinhardt traded baskets as they found themselves tied at ten points apiece. Over the final four minutes of the quarter, the Buffs closed on a 10-2 run to go in front 20-12 heading into the second. The Buffs connected on four triples in the first; two of which came from Lauren Longmire.
Jaycie Jenkins came out in the second on fire scoring nine of Milligan's 21 points in the quarter. Jenkins was three-of-four from the field, knocked down one three-pointer, and converted on both of her free throw attempts. Stacia Wilson was unstoppable on the glass in the second pulling down five rebounds. The Buffs outscored the Eagles 21-20 in the quarter and headed into halftime with a nine-point lead (41-32).
Reinhardt trimmed the Buffs lead to five points (45-40) with just over six minutes to play in the third quarter. However, the Buffs started to get rolling offensively scoring 14 of the final 22 points carrying a double-digit lead into the fourth (59-49). Wilson carried Milligan offensively in the third accounting for half of the Buffs' 18 points.
The Eagles reeled off a 14-5 run over the first eight minutes of the fourth trimming the Buffs' lead to one-point (64-63). In the last two minutes, Milligan capped off an 11-6 run securing the six-point victory 75-69. Kristy Galea scored five points in the final quarter including a huge three-pointer with just over a minute left to give Milligan a two-possession lead.
The Buffs had three players finish in double figures with Jenkins leading the way at 23 points. Longmire finished with 15 points on five-of-seven shooting including a three-for-three night from behind the arc. Wilson added 12 points on four-of-six shooting and four-of-five from the free throw line. Jenkins and Wilson finished first and second on the team in rebounds with 12 and 8 respectively. Jenkins' double-double marked her eleventh on the season.
The Buffs will return to Steve Lacy Fieldhouse on Saturday facing off against AAC opponent Montreat at 2:00 p.m.
