Jaycie Jenkins collects third AAC Player of the Week honor
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (December 13, 2021) – For the third time this season, Milligan University sophomore Jaycie Jenkins was honored as the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week on Monday.
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (December 13, 2021) – For the third time this season, Milligan University sophomore Jaycie Jenkins was honored as the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday.
Jenkins keyed a come-from-behind victory for the Buffs, who rallied from 18 down in the third quarter to defeat Point 77-75 on Saturday. She recorded 30 points and 10 rebounds on the day and shot an efficient nine-of-15 from the field and was 12-of-14 from the free throw line.
With three minutes to play in the third quarter of Saturday's game, Milligan trailed Point 54-36. Jenkins proceeded to notch three three-point plays over the final minutes of the quarter to trim the deficit to 11 (56-47) heading into the fourth. She added six fourth quarter points and converted a three-point play early in overtime to help the Buffs secure the win.
Jenkins is the third-leading scorer nationally at 25.0 points per game and ranks second in the AAC in rebounding (10.2). She also sits top-10 in the NAIA in field goals made and free throws made.
Milligan women's basketball closes out its fall semester slate tomorrow afternoon with a nonconference game at Webber International.
