Jenkins wins AAC freshman of the year
Milligan University freshman Jaycie Jenkins has been named the 2021 Appalachian Athletic Conference freshman of the year after posting 17.5 points and 8.8 rebounds per game this season.
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (Feb. 24, 2021) – Milligan University freshman Jaycie Jenkins has been named the 2021 Appalachian Athletic Conference freshman of the year after posting 17.5 points and 8.8 rebounds per game this season.
Additionally, Jenkins earned a spot on the All-AAC first team and all-freshman team. The AAC league office made the announcement Wednesday night.
Jenkins' 17.5 points and 8.8 rebounds per game ranked No. 4 and No. 5 in the AAC, respectively. Those numbers helped her win AAC player of the week three times, as she was one of only two AAC players with more than one weekly award.
Jenkins capped her freshman season with her best game, posting a career high 34 points and 17 rebounds in the Buffs' loss in the opening round of the AAC tournament.
