Jenkins earns second straight AAC weekly award

MILLIGAN, Tenn. (Feb. 1, 2021) – Milligan University freshman Jaycie Jenkins tallied her Appalachian Athletic Conference-leading 10th double-double of the season as part of a 20-point, nine-rebound effort for the week on the way to winning AAC women's basketball player of the week. The AAC announced the award Monday for the week ending Jan. 31.
This marked the second time Jenkins won the award in her young career after taking the award last week for the first time.
Jenkins has been putting up solid numbers all season, and the week of Jan. 25 was no different. She averaged 19.5 points and 9.0 rebounds in the two games, along with two assists, five blocks and two steals for the week. Jenkins was two rebounds shy of a double-double in leading the Buffs to a win in the first game of the week before scoring 20 points with 10 rebounds in the team's loss Saturday at Reinhardt.
For the season, Jenkins ranks No. 15 nationally in rebounding and No. 19 nationally in scoring. She is averaging 16.4 points and 8.8 rebounds through 19 games.
Jenkins and the Buffs will next be in action Tuesday night at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse when they take on Bryan at 5 p.m. Home games this season can be followed online at milliganbuffs.com.
