WALESKA, Ga. (Jan. 30, 2021) – Freshman Jaycie Jenkins posted her Appalachian Athletic Conference-leading 10th double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds but in a losing effort, as the Milligan University women's basketball team fell at Reinhardt 83-61 Saturday on the road.
Jenkins was one of nine Buffs in the scoring column but the only one in double figures. Malarie Tallent and Halie Padgett posted nine and eight, respectively.
Milligan (7-12, 7-9 AAC) fell behind early and was never able to battle back. Reinhardt used a 7-0 run midway through the first quarter to surge into the lead, and the Eagles would lead the rest of the way.
Milligan kept the game within single digits, including nine at the halftime break and seven near the end of the third quarter, but Reinhardt outscored the Buffs 29-17 over the final 10 minutes. This included a 9-2 run midway through the fourth quarter and a 7-1 run in the final minutes.
Up next, Milligan heads into February with six more games currently left on the regular-season schedule. First up will be a home game against Bryan on Tuesday, Feb. 2, at 5 p.m. at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. Home games this season can be followed via milliganbuffs.com.
