MILLIGAN, Tenn. (Jan. 25, 2021) – Securing her Appalachian Athletic Conference-leading eighth and ninth double-doubles of the season helped Milligan University freshman Jaycie Jenkins earn AAC women's basketball player of the week. The AAC made the announcement Monday for the week ending Jan. 24.
This marked Jenkins' first AAC weekly honor.
Jenkins led the Buffaloes in both games of the week, including pulling in a career-high 18 rebounds in Saturday's come-from-behind win over Tennessee Wesleyan. She added a team-high 13 points in that game, following a 20-point, 10-rebound effort earlier in the week.
Jenkins is up to an average of 16 points per game and 8.8 rebounds per game, ranking No. 4 and No. 9 in the AAC in those categories. With 272 points on the season, she is No. 2 in the league for total scoring.
Jenkins and the Buffs return to action Tuesday evening for an AAC game against St. Andrews beginning at 5 p.m. at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. Home games this season can be followed online via milliganbuffs.com.
