BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (Jan. 16, 2021) – Nine Buffaloes made their way into the scoring column, but it was not enough as the Milligan University women's basketball team fell to Union, 65-51, Saturday afternoon in an Appalachian Athletic Conference road game.
Freshman Jaycie Jenkins led the Buffs with 14 points and seven rebounds while Cali Weddle tallied a career high of 11 rebounds alongside six points in the loss. Other primary scorers for Milligan included Shayla Stewart with a career-high eight points and Lily Griffith, also with eight points.
Milligan (5-10, 5-6 AAC) led by three after a made 3-pointer by Jenkins on the opening possession of the game, but a 9-0 run midway through the first quarter put the Bulldogs into the lead for good. They went into the first-quarter and halftime breaks up by 13 before the Buffaloes played nearly an even second half.
Up next, Milligan stays on the road for its next game to complete a six-game road swing at Truett McConnell on Tuesday, Jan. 19. The Buffaloes will return home the following Saturday for Tennessee Wesleyan. Home games this season can be followed online via milligabuffs.com.
