PIKEVILLE, Ky. (Dec. 10, 2020) – Jaycie Jenkins and Lily Griffith both scored double figures in a 92-54 loss the Milligan University women's basketball team suffered Thursday evening at Pikeville.
Jenkins scored 16 while Griffith scored 13. Hannah Wyrick tallied a team high five rebounds while Jenkins and Griffith each recorded four rebounds. The loss was the second straight for the Buffs, who previously had beaten Brenau 105-96 at home at the end of last week.
Milligan scored the first basket of the game but Pikeville answered with a 3-poiinter on its first possession to go into the lead for good. It started a 19-2 run for the Bears, who went ahead by as many as 24 in the second quarter and led by 23 at the halftime break. Milligan cut the lead to 19 in the second half but would get no closer.
Up next, Milligan closes the fall semester at Montreat on Saturday for a 2 p.m. game against the Cavaliers. The Buffs will then break for Christmas before returning to action in January.
