DAYTON, Tenn. (Nov. 14, 2020) – Three Buffs made it into double figures for scoring, but the Milligan University women's basketball team dropped its first Appalachian Athletic Conference contest of the season to preseason favorite Bryan College, 97-62, Saturday afternoon on the road.
Teal Davis, Jaycie Jenkins and Hannah Wyrick each scored 11 points to lead the Buffs while nine others entered the scoring column, including Stacia Wilson who scored six.
Bryan, last year's AAC regular-season champion and a receiver of votes in the latest national poll, pulled away with big first and third quarters. Milligan had its last lead, 9-8, before a 6-0 run put the Lions into the lead for good. Bryan followed moments later with a 15-2 run that helped it take a 30-18 lead after 10 minutes.
Shortly after coming out of the halftime break, Bryan went on a 16-2 run to get the lead over 25, where it remained the rest of the game.
Up next, Milligan heads to Montreat Tuesday for a 5 p.m. game against the Cavaliers before returning home for two games at the end of next week. Home games can be followed online at milliganbuffs.com.
