Women’s basketball drops nonconference game at Carolina

(Nov. 11, 2020) – Freshman Jaycie Jenkins collected her second double-double of the season and Lily Griffith added another double-digit scoring effort, but the Milligan University women's basketball team dropped a nonconference game at Carolina University, 71-58, Wednesday night on the road.
Milligan (1-3, 1-0 AAC) and Carolina remained close the whole way through until the Bruins finished the game with a 26-15 fourth quarter. Milligan even led 51-47 with eight and a half minutes to go in regulation before Carolina went on a 13-0 run over a span of five minutes to go back in front for good.
Jenkins led the Buffs in scoring in rebounding with her second straight double-double featuring 13 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. She now has tallied nine or more rebounds in three of the four games in her collegiate career. Griffith added 12 points with five rebounds as the only other Buffs in double figures for scoring.
Up next, Milligan stays on the road while returning to Appalachian Athletic Conference play to face Tennessee Wesleyan Saturday at 2 p.m. The Buffs will then be home twice next week for games against Union (Nov. 19) and Bryan (Nov. 21), the top two teams in the AAC according to the coaches preseason poll.
