Women’s basketball loses AAC game at home
Halie Padgett and Kaely Gose combined for 34 points and 13 rebounds, but the Milligan College women’s basketball team dropped an Appalachian Athletic Conference game to Union College, 74-57, Saturday at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Feb. 15, 2020) – Halie Padgett and Kaely Gose combined for 34 points and 13 rebounds, but the Milligan College women's basketball team dropped an Appalachian Athletic Conference game to Union College, 74-57, Saturday at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
Despite playing an even second quarter, Milligan dug an early hole and was unable to recover.
Padgett and Gose both scored 17 points while Padgett had eight rebounds and five blocks. Gose went a perfect 6-for-6 from the field, 5-for-5 from two and 1-for-1 from three. Following was Kayla Romines who tallied career highs of nine points and five assists. Seven other Buffs entered the scoring column.
Play-by-play
Milligan fell behind early, 23-14 at the end of the first quarter, and things got worse early in the second when Union started the period on an 11-0 run to make the score 34-14, Union's largest lead of the game until the last possession of the third quarter. Milligan bounced back from Union's run with an immediate 11-1 run of its own. Gose started the run with a 3-pointer near the five-minute mark of the second quarter, and Padgett scored the last basket of the run with less than three minutes left before halftime.
Union scored a bucket in the final seconds of the first half to put the Bulldog lead back to double digits, and they led by that many the rest of the way.

Milligan has two games left on the regular-season calendar, one on the road and one at home. The Buffs first face No. 16 Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee, on Wednesday before celebrating senior day versus St. Andrews next Saturday. The AAC tournament is set for Wednesday-Saturday, Feb. 26-29, at MeadowView Conference Resort and Convention Center in Kingsport.
